During an infancy that spanned over 2 decades, and another 50+ years since its official formation, the Morinville Fire Department has had countless dedicated volunteers move through the ranks.

Because of our efficient response, a common misconception is that we are a career department, with staff in place 24/7. However, the MFD is actually staffed 100% by volunteer men & women. Though they receive an honorarium once a year for the calls they attend, there are hundreds of hours devoted to administration, training, public education, maintenance and inspections. Without the members’ selfless sacrifice of the enormous amount of time they put in, the Morinville Fire Department would not be what it is today.

The current roster maintains 35-40 members. The membership is divided into 4 platoons, each taking its turn overseeing our response area during holidays and summer weekends. Though we have experienced some movement among the ranks in the last few years and a number of members are fairly new, our senior staff is to be commended for the many years of service they have contributed to the organization. We have also begun working with local high schools, offering students the opportunity to gain extra credits while learning on the job.
